Rocketboard, launching today on Kickstarter, aims to encourage collaboration among teachers, students and professionals.
BOSTON - Dec. 3, 2018 -- Rocketbook, creator of the best-selling, reusable, cloud-connected notebook, today launched a Kickstarter campaign for its new product, Rocketboard, marking the expansion of Rocketbook’s product line beyond notebooks. Thanks to Rocketboard, teachers, students and professionals can turn any ordinary whiteboard surface into an affordable digital sharing platform that enables users to capture, organize and broadcast important notes, diagrams and big ideas in real-time.
With Rocketboard, users can integrate their ordinary whiteboard with the Rocketbook mobile app (iOS/Android) by simply placing the four removable, reusable, adhesive “beacons” on each corner of the writing surface. Users take notes on the board as they normally would, then scan their work via the Rocketbook app to instantly organize and share their notes with anyone. The Rocketbook app can even transcribe and digitize handwriting through its powerful optical character recognition (OCR) technology. These notes can then be sent to users’ preferred cloud destinations including Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, Evernote and more. Click here to watch a video of Rocketboard in action.
Broadcast Mode, the newest feature in the Rocketbook app, expands Rocketboard’s functionality by enabling users to stream their notes taken on the board. The app auto-scans every five seconds to update the JPG scan of the board, shown at the unique URL the app creates. For example, colleagues working remotely during a brainstorm session can pull up the URL and view notes taken in real-time.
Joe Lemay, co-founder and CEO of Rocketbook, said: “When Jake and I started Rocketbook, Rocketboard was our first idea for digitizing note taking. We decided to disrupt and lead the smart notebook industry first, and now our customers are looking to us to broaden the capabilities of our technology - so we’re taking it back to the drawing board! We are excited to bring our loyal Rocketbook community a brand new product that makes it even easier for them to create and share.”
Jake Epstein, co-founder of Rocketbook, said: “Rocketboard combines our most innovative capabilities to provide users with a whole new way to collaborate. By modernizing already-installed whiteboards and surfaces, we’re once again disrupting an industry that has not seen significant change in years - and once again, we’re making it affordable and easy to use.”
